Hello,
you can not upgrade a SMAN J3 version to a J4 version directly via Joomla extension manager, it has to be done with our migration tool:
(sorry, right now we have only a german tutorial)

How and where do you have problems with the migration?

We offer mgiration to the new instance and I could make you a quote therefore.
Can we have access to your website backend and to ftp. Can you tell us, if there are some overrides on seminar manager 3 that needs to be rewritten? If so, please, send us also your ftp.

I was finally able to get this site upgraded. Thank you for your time in discussing the issues. I didn't follow the upgrade instructions closely the first attempt.
